DUDA in its present form has been in existence for many years and is a progression from the original Dundee United Sportsman’s Club formed in the summer of 1956. The Dundee United Chairman at the time was Ernest Robertson and it was with his prompting that the founder members of the Sportsman’s Club went to Nottingham Forest, the team that first introduced the concept of fund raising this way.
Seeing for themselves how the English side operated their Sportsman’s Club, Dundee United’s was set up along similar lines and for a shilling (5p) weekly, members participated in Taypools, the first such venture in Scotland. In the years since, substantial sums have been raised to assist youth development at United.
|
Youth Development is the corner stone of progress at Tannadice and Dundee United Development Association exists with the primary aim of raising funds for this purpose through the Tannadice Lottery, 50/50 Half Time Draws and Super Draws.
Members of the Tannadice Lottery and everyone who purchases 50/50 tickets or Super Draw tickets are all helping the youth of today become the stars of tomorrow.
|
Garry Kenneth is a prime example of what can be achieved. Here is a local boy and United supporter who progressed through the Jim McLean School of Excellence, to United’s Youth side by the age of sixteen and was a first team member less than a year later. Garry has now represented the club in two national cup finals.
Of the current squad, David Goodwillie, Keith Watson, David Robertson and Ryan McCord have come through the system. Look out for the attacking flair of young striker Ryan Dow in the near future.

| Centenary Super Draw |
Super Draws are the newest DUDA venture. They are being organised three or four times each year and tickets can be purchased from several sources. The first prize will normally be £1,000 with several other prizes on offer including hospitality, signed shirts etc.
We are always keen to find more supporters willing to sell tickets, even if in only small numbers, for Super Draws and if you feel you would be able to assist, again, the point of contact is Dundee United Development Association (phone 01382 833166 or email lottery@dundeeunitedfc.co.uk).

| 50/50 Half Time Draw |
Dundee United Development Association also organise the match day 50/50 draw, with the proceeds being split 50/50 between Dundee United and the draw winners. On average, we pay out more than £500 at each home match! Tickets cost only £1 and are sold throughout the stadium. From season 2005-2006 there will normally be two prizes so look out for the 50/50 sellers and make sure you get your chance to win. The draw is carried out by an invited guest, usually a supporter at half time.
50/50 ticket sellers are often required and if you are interested please contact Dundee United Development Association (phone 01382 833166 or email lottery@dundeeunitedfc.co.uk).
