In response to the considerable interest
prompted by a suggestion from an exiled Arab in Canada, we are now pleased to
offer a facility which will allow Dundee United supporters to sponsor season
tickets for disadvantaged children.
While the initial suggestion was put forward
as a means of allowing exiled Arabs, who cannot attend games at Tannadice, to
contribute to season ticket numbers many fans who do attend games have
expressed an interest in contributing to such a worthwhile cause.
For our part, Dundee United will pledge to
match any funds raised from fans in this way to ensure that the number of
season tickets available under this scheme is doubled.
Donations and contributions to this cause can now be made by both credit and
debit card below. Cheques, made payable to Dundee United FC, can also be sent
to Derek Robertson, Dundee United FC, Tannadice Street, Dundee. Please ensure
that the envelope is marked "United for Kids".
The Club is currently working with the Dundee
City Council's Social Work Department and Better Neighbourhood Services,
'Support for Young People' initiative in co-ordinating the distribution of
tickets. The tickets will go to local children's organisations, groups and
charities in the Dundee area and the Club will ensure that all tickets go to a
worthwhile cause. Information has been circulated to over 100 local children's organisations
giving details of how to apply for tickets. If you are not linked to any of
those organisation and require further information please contact Bert Sandeman
or Linda Macleish on 01382 435391.
This is yet another good example of Dundee
United fans working closely with the Club on a worthwhile project, to the
mutual benefit of all concerned.
