ALEX SMITH LETS THINGS SETTLE

8th August 2000

Interim manager Alex Smith spent Tuesday, his first full day in charge of team matters, settling in at Tannadice. After a double training session on Monday the first team had been told they were getting the day off and Alex decided against calling them in for a first meeting with their new boss.

"It has been a very difficult few days for all the squad and I felt it was better to let things settle down before we get to work," he said.

After his appointment to replace Paul Sturrock, Alex is looking forward to day to day involvement with players again. "Coaching is the best part of the job and being involved every day is something I have missed."
