Goalkeeper Alan Combe looks set to stay at Tannadice next season following a successful extension of contract talks with the club.

The former St Mirren man's current deal with United expires soon, and negotiations have been ongoing with manager Paul Sturrock. These appear to have borne fruit with the boss growing in confidence that his top team regular from last season will again be in place for the new campaign.

Said Sturrock, "Although things have yet to be finalised, we are not far away from agreement on a new deal. I am very confident that things will be concluded within the next few days."

The fact that Combe is on holiday at present has created a delay in signing the contract.
