NEW BOYS WILL RELISH DERBY ATMOSPHERE - SMITH

9th November 2000

Manager Alex Smith is promising the fans quality when last week's signings Charlie Miller and Beto Naveda make their home debuts in Saturday's derby against Dundee at Tannadice.

Both impressed when they turned out at Motherwell last weekend - Naveda got United's goal - and Alex feels the big match atmosphere will bring out the best in them. "They both have a lot of big derby experience and are the kind of players who will relish the occasion," he said.

Meanwhile, the SFA have promised the Club an answer tomorrow on Jim Lauchlan's appeal against his red card at Fir Park. On the fitness front, Hasney Aljofree returned to training on Thursday after recovering from a groin strain.
