FIRST START FOR FULLARTON

17th November 2000

New signing Jamie Fullarton will make his first start in a tangerine jersey when United make the short trip to St Johnstone on Saturday. Signed from Crystal Palace last week, Fullarton was a late sub against Dundee, but Manager Alex Smith confirmed on Friday that the former Under-21 star would be in his line up for the McDiarmid Park showdown.

Another of the recent arrivals, Jim Lauchlan, will return from suspension, but skipper Jason de Vos now looks certain to be ruled out. He was due to return from Canada on Friday, but a combination of jet lag and a knee ligament problem left him extremely doubtful. Making a shorter trip back home was the first team squad, who spent two days together at Seamill - an exercise the Manager felt was worthwhile. "It was good to get the boys together and it seems to have lifted spirits in the camp, but we know the real test of whether or not it was worth going away will come at McDiarmid Park," said Alex.

Summer signing Neil Heaney has also been included in the squad and could be handed a wing berth.
