Dev League: Dunfermline 1 United 0

29th November 2016

The Young Terrors lost by a solitary second half goal at New Central Park this afternoon in a game where chances were few and far between. Play switched from end to end throughout the opening 45 minutes of this Development League match played at Kelty and either side could have scored if blessed with slightly more luck. United started the second half better forcing several corners that Hornby dropped into dangerous areas but it was his 50th minute cross that provided the best chance but that was headed wide. Dunfermline scored what turned out to be the decisive goal in 55th minute.  Crawford supplied the cross from the right and Callum Smith rose above the United defence to head home. Long did get a hand to the ball down to his left but he could not stop it going into his net. Coote tried hard to get United back on level terms. He fired a shot high and wide before in 64 minutes seeing his shot blocked by Duncan only for Appere to follow up and send the ball wide. The Pars could have wrapped it all up two minutes from time but Smith lost his footing and the chance was gone. That could have proven costly since in the second minute of added time a Hornby free kick from just inside the Pars half was not taken by Gill but United`s shot travelled wide. It had been a pretty even affair but the home side scored the all important goal. DUNFERMLINE: Gill, Duncan, Allan, Morrison, Spark: Galloway, Crawford, Horne, Spence, Smith, Luke.
