Dev League: United 2 Kilmarnock 0

30th March 2017

The Young Terrors comfortably saw off their Kilmarnock counterparts at Tannadice this afternoon courtesy of a Mcmeekin brace. The opening exchanges saw little in the way of goalmouth action. After 25 minutes, United’s first real chance came when a Blair Spittal drive looked destined for the top corner only for Killie stopper Devlin Mackay to produce a sublime save. Two minutes later, Dominic Mcmeekin opened the scoring after beating four players in the Killie box and slotting home. United continued to press in the first half and came close again on 39 minutes when a glancing header from Scott Allardice flashed just over. The Terrors enjoyed more of the same as the second half begun when it took Mackay again to touch Logan Davie’s shot onto the bar when it had looked certain for the net. United’s domination would be rewarded on 59 minutes when a sensationally drilled pass from Logan Chalmers was met equally well by Mcmeekin who was in place to poke it in under Mackay. United had a few other chances as the game wore on in what was a comfortable win all things told. UNITED XI: Long, Spittal (Ritchie 60), Dailly, Kuate, Allardice, Reekie, Taylor (Garden 67), Davie, Chalmers (Appere 79), B. Smith, McMeekin SUBS: J. Donaldson, Ritchie, Hornby, Appere, Garden, Inglis.
