Dev League: United 2 Dunfermline 2

14th April 2017

United twice took the lead, through Louis Appéré and Brad Smith respectively, only to be pegged back on each occasion allowing Dunfermline a share of the spoils this afternoon at Station Park. By Peter Rundo The Pars were first to get a shot on target, United keeper Brett Long at full stretch to beat a Reece Duncan shot away after 25 minutes. Shortly afterwards, the visitors had strong appeals for a penalty for handball rejected after a Robbie Crawford cross appeared to be handled. Then similar to the first team meeting at Tannadice on Tuesday, United went up the park and scored. With 30 minutes on the clock, Jack Allan, who had replaced the injured Logan Davie, delivered a cross from the right and Louis Appéré capitalised on hesitation in the visiting defence to bundle the ball in at the near post. Just before the hour mark, the Fifers levelled. Crawford chipped the ball over from the left from which Stuart Morrison’s glancing header went in off the far post. Both sides had chances before United regained the lead after 69 minutes. A neat exchange of passes between Dom Mcmeekin and Brad Smith enabled the latter to surge through the middle before finding the bottom corner with a crisp finish from the edge of the box. Six minutes from the end, Duncan found space in the United box and curled the ball into the far corner from 15 yards.
