LIVI PREVIEW

23rd February 2018

After what seems to have been a very inactive period for United, the games come thick and fast starting today with a very tricky looking trip to play Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena. This is the first of three league games in a week with Queen Of The South and league leaders St Mirren to visit Tannadice next week.

By Gareth Scott

United put in a spirited display at Pittodrie but in the end the Premiership side were too strong for Csaba Laszlo's men. United had an unfamiliar looking line up for the cup tie but hopefully, with some injured players returning, new signing Grant Gillespie will return to midfield. Paul McMullan and Scott McDonald also made an impact from the bench and they will pushing for starting berths. The Manager's starting line up will definitely be interesting to see.

With United's poor run of results and inactivity in the league, both St Mirren and Livingston have taken advantage which has resulted in United slipping to third. However with games in hand and games against these sides, United do still have a glimmer of hope. Livingston are the form side in the division and produced a stunning 4-1 win over St Mirren on Saturday. United will take heart from the fact that they convincingly beat David Hopkins' men at Tannadice back in December. However, Livi were worthy winners on their own ground back in October.

Livingston have arguably been the biggest surprise package this term having only been promoted this season but there is no doubt they are in the race for promotion. During the January window they added former United man Lee Miller to their ranks.

With everything to play for this is very much a game that United can win and surely a good result and performance can push us on. Despite the game being on BBC Alba, United fans will no doubt travel in numbers to cheer on the team.
