DUCT LAUNCH WOMEN'S ONLY WALKING FOOTBALL

5th June 2018

Dundee United Community Trust (DUCT) are delighted to announce the launch of a Women’s Only Walking Football Project in partnership with Dryburgh Athletic. The sessions are open to women aged 16 and over who currently play football and would like to try walking football, women who want to get back into playing football after time out of the sport, as well as women who have never played the game before!

DUCT Projects Assistant Michael Malone commented, “We’ve had a number of girls play as part of our two mixed weekly walking football sessions. In starting up a women’s only session, we want to give more women the opportunity to get involved in physical activity through walking football in a fun and friendly environment. We have been inspired by the success of the session at Links Park and aim to replicate this in Dundee.”

Maggie Symington, a regular participant in walking football stated: “I have been involved for almost two years and I love it!  I enjoy the competition with men and I will continue with mixed football as well as play in the new venture. I'm delighted that the women’s only sessions will be up and running soon. There are a lot of mums with kids who play football; this is a great opportunity for mums and other ladies to get involved.”

The first session will be on Wednesday 27th of June at the GA Arena from 7pm to 8pm. For more information, please get in touch with the Community Trust via Facebook, Twitter or email michael.malone@dundeeunitedct.co.uk. The inaugural session is free, £3 thereafter.
