Dundee United announce Slovakian goalkeeper Matej Rakovan will join from Czech side FC Vysocina Jihlava on a two-year deal upon expiry of his contract on Wednesday. 

The 28-year-old started his professional career with his Slovak hometown Superliga side MŠK Žilina and, following a loan spell with Czech top flight outfit Karviná, joined  Slavia Prague in 2013 and subsequently Vysocina Jihlava in 2016 where he played 24 games last season. 

The 6’5” tall shot-stopper has also represented his country at U-21 level.

Dundee United Manager Csaba László said: “I am delighted to welcome Matej to the Club. He has come through the excellent goalkeeping schools of Slovakia and the Czech Republic and is experienced at the top level. He has had offers from other clubs and I am very pleased he has chosen us as he is ideally suited to the Scottish game”. 

Matej said: “I am extremely happy to sign for Dundee United. It was always my dream to play in the UK and I am very excited about this new chapter in my career. “
