STAT-ATTACK: QUEEN OF THE SOUTH

9th August 2018

United head to Palmerston Park this coming Saturday (11/08 at 3pm) to visit Queen of the South for our first away fixture of the 2018/19 campaign.

The team will be out to rectify the poor performance and result from our season opener versus Dunfermline at Tannadice on Saturday past when we lost 2-3.

Here are some of the head-to-head and historical stats between the teams.

TWO

It was two wins apiece in the four league games last season with United winning the first two and Queens winning the final two. United's victories came in August 2017 (2-1 home) and March 2018 (3-1 away). Queens' win came courtesy of a March 2018 Tannadice win (2-3) and an April Palmerston victory (3-0).

SEVEN

Last season, there were seven scheduled fixture dates between the teams during the league campaign. With two home postponements due to excessive rain and an abandoned fixture down at Palmerston due to a frozen pitch, the teams were well aware of each other by the season's end.

41

There have been 41 meetings between the teams with United winning 22, Queens winning 7 and 12 ending in draws.

29

29 players have played for both teams with current United striker Nicky Clark being the most prominent at this time. Recent players including Mark Durnan, Cammy Bell and John Rankin have also played for both teams.

1927

The first-ever meeting between the teams was in August 1927 in Division Two, and it ended in a 1-1 draw with Archie Ralston scoring for Jimmy Brownlie's United.
