ROBBIE LOOKING FORWARD TO FRIDAY NIGHT UNDER THE LIGHTS

29th November 2018

There is always a unique feel to a night game under the floodlights at Tannadice, and add in the incentive of a Friday night football against the league leaders, and it takes on even greater significance.

Head Coach Robbie Neilson has rightly been vocal in his praise of the support United fans have given the team since he arrived and he is expecting that to continue and, hopefully,  increase when Ayr United visit Tannadice tomorrow night.

"Hopefully, we can get a terrific home crowd, it's not just what happens on the pitch but its what happens off it also that helps clubs grow.

"Under the floodlights on a Friday night, a top of the table clash, it would be great if we could get a good crowd behind us. The atmosphere with the fans and the support has been magnificent, and that helps the players immensely."

Robbie knows his game plan and has been working to it since the Alloa game, but the focus has cranked up in the last few days.

"We have to make sure we are ready for the game and work as hard as Ayr, first and foremost. We have prepared for this game in the usual manner with a focus on it really kicking in four days before and us looking at how they play and how we can counter that and then changing focus to what we can do to win the match."

Robbie expects a difficult battle, but he explained that the important thing is the team keep working together and being United.

"We have to win this game together. We have lost only four goals in seven games so if we keep goals out that's because the strikers have pressed and done their job defensively and if we score goals it's because the defenders have given the strikers a platform to do so. We are a team, and if we continue to play like a team, we will win continue to win football matches."

The match kicks off on Friday at 7.45pm, and United fans can purchase tickets in advance from the ticket centre.

On the night of the match, tickets can be purchased from either the ticket centre or the cash ticket booth outside the George Fox Stand. Cash payment can also be made at the turnstiles in the Eddie Thompson Lower, and Jerry Kerr Stands.
