MAN OF THE MATCH NICKY CLARK DELIGHTED TO BE BACK

14th January 2019

Goalscorer Nicky Clark spoke of his frustrations at his injury woes this season but was delighted to be back on the park scoring goals.

Clark's 81st-minute header secured the three points for United in what had been a tight contest against Dunfermline up to that point, but the striker was just grateful to be on the park.

Talking to Dundee United Media's ArabZONE after the game, Nicky expressed his delight at being back.

"It's been a long, frustrating time. I've missed a lot this season, its the first time in my career I have been out long-term, so I was just happy to be involved."

Clark's winning goal might be viewed as the perfect way to silence the vociferous jibes of the away fans, but Nicky was more concerned with securing the three points that take United closer to the top of the table.

"It was some as the first game of the season with their fans giving me some, I thought I done alright for them, but it's part of football. The three points today were massive for us. We didn't take the opportunity last week with teams around us slipping up, but today we have. We have to keep this going."

Having spent only one day training with his team-mates in the lead up to the game and is now focusing on making an impact for United during the second half of the season.

"I've still to up my fitness and get match fitness up. That comes with playing games so hopefully that's me back now, and both the team and I can kick on for the rest of the season."
