ROBBIE DELIGHTED WITH DEBUTANTS

21st January 2019

Head Coach Robbie Neilson was delighted by the performances of debutants Morgaro Gomis and Ian Harkes in Saturday's Scottish Cup victory.

Gomis (who made his third debut in Tangerine) played the full 90 minutes and Harkes came on for the last 20 minutes and grabbed a debut goal in the dying seconds of the 4-0 and Robbie was delighted with the contribution of both.

"I played against Morgaro and managed him at Hearts, so I knew all about his quality, and I was pleased when we got him to sign here again. I am sure the United fans would have been delighted with his energy and quality he showed. It was good to be able to give Fraser Fyvie a rest because we have asked a lot of him after his injury," said Robbie.

"Ian came on and showed his quality, and it was great for him to get a debut goal. I thought he gave a glimpse of what he can bring us once he is up to full match fitness."

Ian Harkes himself was delighted to get some game time despite what has been a hectic first week at the Club.

Ian said, "It was good to get out there and get a run, and the guys had pretty much secured the win, so there was a little less pressure. I was told to sit next to Morgaro in midfield, but I also had the freedom to get forward alongside Nicky and get in the box and luckily I scored."

"I am happy to have got my debut and help the team. I have been welcomed in, and everyone has been great so far. I now look forward to getting some league action and getting the points for the Club."

Both Morgaro and Ian are expected to form part of the squad for this Friday's trip to Somerset Park.
