Club Ambassadors Paul Hegarty and Hamish McAlpine were on hand to visit lifelong Arab Colin Bennett after the Club received a request from wife Mandy to help tick off a bucket list request.
55-year-old Colin was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few weeks ago and has spent the last ten days in Roxburgh House, and wife Mandy reached out to the Club for Paul and Hamish to bring cheer.
Colin said, “I couldn’t believe it. Mandy told me that a few of my family
and my friends were coming, but she never told me about Paul and Hamish.
“Although, when she told me I had to wear my United top for the afternoon, I did wonder why – I suppose I had an inkling that she had been up to something.
“What an incredible surprise. It’s a wish come true; I am completely overwhelmed.”
Club Ambassador Paul Hegarty said, “It’s been great to see how thrilled Colin was with the surprise visit. When we heard about his dying wish to meet some of his heroes, Hamish and I were more than happy to visit and chat with Colin."
