HOSPITALITY COMPENSATION POLICY

24th June 2020

The Board of Dundee United FC are aware that a significant number of supporters purchased hospitality packages for the matches that were cancelled at the end of last season due to COVID-19.

We would like to apologise to these supporters for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation of these matches, although clearly this was outwith the Club’s control at the time. We certainly wanted the matches played to allow the team to finish the job of winning the league in front of all our fantastic supporters, and it is disappointing that the players and coaching staff were denied this opportunity.

We are now looking forward to our return to the Premiership, and with the players resuming training last week, we are already in the advanced stages of planning for the season ahead. Thanks to the magnificent backing of the fans we have sold over 5,000 season tickets, and this has brought in much needed money to the Club at this very difficult time. As a result, we have so far managed to avoid the severe cost-cutting measures that other Scottish clubs have undertaken, and are planning to strengthen the playing squad for next season. However, we are facing the short-term uncertainty of matches being played behind closed doors or in front of restricted crowds, so it is very difficult at this stage to manage cashflows while trying to emerge from this crisis in as strong a position as possible.

It is against this background that the Board have implemented the policy of not offering cash refunds to supporters for the cancelled matches last season, but ensuring that we achieve a balance of giving supporters compensation for what they paid in respect of these matches, while also protecting the Club’s short-term cashflow. Season ticket prices for those renewing from last season reflected a discount on the proposed pricing for the return to the Premiership, and we have included a free virtual season ticket for all season ticket holders over the age of 16 to ensure they are at least able to watch all our home matches live in the event of matches being played behind closed doors.

For our hospitality clients, to those who are seasonal members, we have offered a 5% discount for early renewal and an additional place at a Category C match this season, as well as the free virtual season ticket for matches behind closed doors. Fans who bought a hospitality package for a specific match that was cancelled will be given a full credit that can be used against hospitality at a match this season. If you are in this position, please contact one of our Commercial team to arrange your booking once the fixture list is announced. Places will be limited at certain matches so please make sure you book as early as possible. Alternatively, the credit can be used against the cost of purchasing match tickets or goods from our retail store to the value of 120% of what you paid for the hospitality at the cancelled match.

The Board appreciates that these are very difficult times for everyone and would like to thank our supporters for their fantastic backing through the purchase of season tickets, and their flexibility in accommodating our compensation policy as outlined above. We look forward to welcoming you to a Premiership match soon.
