DUCT NETS NEW FUNDING TO BOOST COVID RECOVERY AND ENHANCE LOCAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT

24th June 2021

Dundee United Community Trust (DUCT) is delighted to confirm that it has been awarded £59,700 from the Adapt and Thrive Fund to employ a new full-time employability manager and create brand new and exciting programmes in and for the local community to boost employability skills.

This new project is delivered in partnership with Dundee United Football Club who are providing increased access to the fantastic facilities at Tannadice Park as a unique alternative learning environment.

In January 2021 DUCT became a Kickstart Gateway Employer, committed to creating 30 jobs for local young people at risk of long-term unemployment and are well on their way to reaching that target by December 2021.  The appointment of a new Employability Manager is the next stage of a strategic plan to create new opportunities for local people to improve their employability skills and move closer to work.  As well as delivering fantastic outcomes for local people, this strategic appointment also allows the Community Trust to explore new revenue opportunities which will further enhance our work in the local community.

DUCT’s Chief Executive, Jamie Kirk, commented “We’re really grateful to the Adapt and Thrive Fund for supporting this initiative.  Covid-19 has had a significant impact on all aspects of the community in a number of ways and Charities like ours are no exception.  This key appointment and the work the new postholder will undertake will play a key role in our recovery and importantly in the recovery of those affected by the Pandemic, the people in our communities.  We look forward to starting the recruitment process and to working with local key partners to develop collaborative plans in the important area of employability.”

The recruitment process for a new Employability Manager has now begun and a full role description can be viewed here.  DUCT welcomes applications from suitably experienced and motivated individuals to drive this exciting new work forward.
