FIVE ACADEMY GRADUATES GET INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

23rd August 2021

Dundee United is proud to confirm that, once again, our young players are being rewarded with international recognition with five Our Academy graduates being called up to their respective Scotland squads.

Chris Mochrie and Lewis Neilson are returning to the Scotland Under-19 training camp after their inclusion at the beginning of the summer. The camp will take place at the SportScotland Sports Centre in Inverclyde from August 31st to September 1st.

Since returning from their loans last season, both youngsters have made appearances for the first team this year with Lewis making three appearances and Chris making five while scoring his first senior goal for the Club.

Craig Moore and Lewis O'Donnell will join up with the Under-17s for their upcoming friendly double-header against Wales on September 2nd and 5th.

Rory MacLeod, who scored in the Under-18s 3-1 win over Kilmarnock yesterday, was capped for the Under-16s earlier this week. He scored in the 4-0 win over Derby County and, despite the defeat, put in a great performance against England at St George’s Park, winning Scotland a penalty.

Academy Director Andy Goldie said: "It’s a great testament to the hard work of all players and staff to have another five players rewarded with international recognition.

"We’re always very proud to see our boys represent our country and these experiences provide them with a great opportunity to accelerate their progress with the club.

"Rory’s performances this week have been very encouraging and we look forward to seeing the rest of the boys in the coming weeks."
