CHRIS DOCHERTY HEADS ABROAD TO FURTHER HIS CAREER

28th October 2021

Here at Dundee United we pride ourselves on the continued development of every employee and we are always proud when one of our staff leaves to grasp a fabulous career opportunity. That is certainly the case with Head of Tactical Performance Chris Docherty who leaves us after Saturday’s game to take up the position of Sporting Director abroad.

Chris joined United in July and has helped implement strategic planning that should ensure a more seamless transition between Our Academy players and the pathway to first-team football.

Sporting Director Tony Asghar said: “Chris came to us with an impressive CV and plenty ambition. He has been able to help in implementing Tam’s game model to the players from an analytical viewpoint and worked with Andy in integrating our continued high performance methodology within our Academy which will benefit the club in the future, he has also developed his own skill set by studying the good practices we have in place. When this opportunity came along, he felt he had to take it and he leaves with our best wishes and thanks for his input during his time here.”

Chris said: “I feel part of the United family despite my relatively short period at the Club and I have to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome and helping me develop my knowledge within a fantastic club. I have been able to watch closely how the Sporting Director does things here at a well-run club and being able to work so closely with the coaching and recruitment staff will serve me greatly as I look towards this exciting opportunity that is ahead of me.”

Everyone at United looks forward to watching Chris’ future career develop.
