Dundee United are excited to announce two of our emerging Young Terrors stars have put pen to paper on their first professional contracts with the club ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Both Marcus Buchanan and Jack Anderson have committed their future to the club until at least the summer of 2027 amidst strong interest in their talents both north and south of the border.

Marcus Buchanan

Joining our pre-academy aged just six, Buchanan juggled his Foundation Park exploits with regular action at Dundee West Reds Boys Club, before entering our youth system permanently in 2019.

He scooped the U10s Player of the Year Award at the end of a smash-hit debut season, and progressed into the SFA Performance School programme at St John’s High School.

The rangy defender enjoyed his first taste of CAS Under 18s Elite League action during the 2023/24 campaign, and has cemented himself as a pivotal member of Brian Grant and Andy Payne’s backline.

Buchanan’s stellar form at domestic level brought international recognition, with the 16-year-old currently training with Scotland U17s at Oriam.

Jack Anderson

Frontman Anderson has enjoyed prolific career spearheading attacks throughout his Academy journey.

Since joining the Terrors in 2019, he has been the top scorer for his respective team for the past five consecutive campaigns - subsequently finding himself named as the Player of the Year at U13 and U15 level.

2024/25 brought his first foray into Under-18s action, where he found the back of the net against Motherwell and St Mirren respectively.

The 2009-born talent follows in the footsteps of up-and-coming Academy graduates, Sam Cleall-Harding and Owen Stirton, who also honed their talents at our Baldragon Performance School programme.

'RETAINING OUR BEST TALENT IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE TO US'

After tying down two future stars, Academy Director, Scott Allison, said: “Retaining our best young talent is always of paramount importance to us as a club, and we are delighted both Marcus and Jack agree this is the best place for their professional journey to commence.

"We have been working hard behind the scenes to develop our infrastructure and create an elite learning environment for our youngsters.

We are seeing these talents making strides forward with the club and it's incredibly satisfying that our best up-and-coming players believe United is where they can maximise their potential."
