Dundee United are delighted to announce the signing of Amar Fatah on a season-long loan deal from Ligue 2 side ES Troyes AC.

Fatah, of Somalian descent, burst onto the scene with 12-time Allsvenskan champions AIK Stockholm aged just 17.

The dynamic winger chalked up a goal and two assists during his debut year in professional football, whilst also tasting UEFA Europa Conference League action as Gnaget progressed through the early Qualifying Rounds.

With his reputation on the rise across the continent, ESTAC Troyes stumped up a hefty €5 million for Fatah in July 2022.

He featured in both Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France at the outset of the 2022/23 campaign, before embarking on an exciting loan stint with Lommel SK in Belgium - a sister club of Troyes under the ownership of The City Group - when the winter window opened.

Tasked with aiding Lommel’s efforts to stay in the Challenger Pro League throughout the second half of the term, Fatah rose to the challenge, notching six goal contributions against the Soevereinstadion outfit’s rivals for survival - including a dazzling brace against Standard de Liege 16 on the final day.

Such was the success of his Limburg adventure, his temporary spell was extended for a further season by Lommel boss and Arsenal legend Steve Bould - a trusted lieutenant of Arsene Wenger’s coaching staff throughout the previous decade.

The summer of 2024 brought heady days for Fatah, as he received his first Sweden U21 squad inclusion for friendlies against England and Croatia in preparation for the upcoming UEFA European Championships, whilst also earning himself the opportunity to train with Premier League title-winners Manchester City.

Our new addition rubbed shoulders with the world’s elite during the Citizen’s pre-season tour of the United States under the watchful eye of legendary boss, Pep Guardiola.

In clashes with AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea, the Stockholm-native shared the stage with stars such as Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski, Noni Madueke and Jack Grealish.

Following his Stateside adventure with City, Fatah teamed up with Willem II in the Netherlands for the 2024/25 Eredivisie, and competed in UEFA European Championship Qualifying with his homeland. During his time in Tillburg, our new number 17 ranked in the top five for ball-progressing runs per 90 minutes when compared with his peers.

The 21-year-old is set to make his Terrors bow tomorrow as our pre-season schedule continues with a trip to Perth to clash with St Johnstone - grab your ticket here!

AMAR WILL EXCITE OUR SUPPORTERS

On his eighth signing of the summer window, Dundee United Manager, Jim Goodwin, commented: “The signing of Amar represents a real coup for the club - he’s a player who arrives with tremendous pedigree despite his youth.

“He’s had extensive experience playing in the Dutch, Swedish and French top flights, and had the chance to learn from some of the world’s best players during his time training with Pep Guardiola’s Man City. That kind of exposure at such a formative stage in his career speaks volumes about his ability.

“A player who thrives in one-versus-one scenarios, we feel Amar will excite our supporters with his pace, creativity and quality in the final third.

“We also believe we have cultivated the perfect environment and culture for him to develop even further, and we’re eager to help him take the next step in his journey whilst simultaneously strengthening Dundee United."
