Dundee United wishes to place on record our sincere appreciation for the exceptional backing our supporters have provided since the beginning of the season and over the intense period of UEFA competition in recent weeks.

The commitment shown through season ticket purchases, matchday attendances, the incredible travelling support in Luxembourg and Vienna, and the sell-out atmosphere at The CalForth Construction Arena against SK Rapid Wien highlights the strength, passion, and unwavering backing of our supporters. We truly believe our fanbase is among the very best in Scottish football.

The backing given to the team and management by the majority has been of the highest order and is a source of great pride for the club.

Unfortunately, a small minority have engaged in behaviour that is wholly unacceptable. The use of pyrotechnics at both home UEFA fixtures, objects thrown onto the pitch in Luxembourg and Austria, significant damage caused to facilities at Tannadice last Thursday, and, domestically, an object thrown towards an opposition player during the recent Hearts match have together resulted in fines exceeding £20,000 and disciplinary action from both UEFA and the SPFL. Such actions not only harm the reputation of Dundee United and our supporters but also place a direct financial burden on the club.

The vast majority of our supporters represent the club and the city of Dundee with pride. It is now vital that, as a collective, we ensure this minority does not continue to undermine the reputation built by the many.

As we approach the Dundee derby at Dens with national attention focused on the city, we call upon all Dundee United supporters to continue to back the team with the passion they are renowned for, while ensuring our collective conduct is beyond reproach.

The club will continue to work closely with supporters to uphold the proud reputation of Dundee United and urges every fan to play their part in ensuring that this is not undermined by the unacceptable actions of a minority.
