The Team Talk

Jim Goodwin made three changes from the side that picked up a well-deserved point at Ibrox last weekend. Julius Eskesen, Ivan Dolek and Amar Fatah dropped out in place of Iurie Iovu, Pan Camarà and Nikolaj Möller as we appeared to switch to a 3-5-2.

There were three DUFC Academy graduates included in our matchday squad.

Nip and Tuck

It was a relatively quiet opening quarter of an hour, with Vicko Ševelj's cross for Nikolaj Möller the only time any team looked close to carving out a chance.

There was a long stoppage in play whilst Luca Stephenson received treatment following a collision with Mark O'Hara inside the United penalty area as a high boot caught him in the face.

Just moments after the ball was back in play, the visitors took the lead when Declan John’s cross was deflected into the air, and Yevhenii Kucherenko’s attempted punch lacked power, allowing Dan Nlundulu to nod it home.

On Terms in Style

Just minutes before the break, we were gifted a route back into the game after Shamal George was caught handling outside his area.

Up stepped Sapsford, who drilled the resulting free-kick through the wall and into the bottom corner to bring us level!

An Encouraging Start

Just moments after the restart, we threatened again as Pan Camarà powered forward, bursting through midfield before poking the ball towards goal. His effort looked to take a slight deflection on its way through, sparking strong appeals for a corner before John Beaton signalled for a goal kick.

Much of the second half left plenty to be desired until changes were made, with Kristijan Trapanovski, Dario Naamo and Amar Fatah introduced to spark a turnaround.

It took less than ten minutes for Fatah to make his impact.

I In a crowded penalty area, Möller appeared to be impeded, though play initially continued. However, Referee John Beaton was advised to check the monitor, where a quick review saw a penalty awarded and a straight red card shown to Alex Gogic for a horror tackle on our number 77. The correct outcome that anyone who knows anything about football could see.

Fatah made no mistake from the spot - calmly slotting the ball into the corner and sending the Saints keeper the wrong way.

Icing on the Cake

Two Sibbald stunners in as many weeks capped off the afternoon in style.

Arriving late into the attack as the clock struck 90, our number 14 collected the ball on the edge of the box and curled a beauty into the far corner - kissing the post on its way in!

It's a win that has us sitting third in the table ahead of Sunday's fixtures!
