Four Dundee United supporters are set to take on an Arctic Trek in Finland to raise funds for the Dundee United Community Trust.
The group have arrived in Rovaniemi, where they will spend three days trekking into the Arctic Circle, facing extreme conditions in support of the club’s charitable arm.

Ahead of their departure, the four; Howard Elgie, James Mckeown, Ged Hepburn and Matt Watson were pictured at Discovery Point in Dundee, in front of and on board the RRS Discovery. Built in the city’s shipyards, the vessel famously carried Captain Scott on his Antarctic expedition in 1901, providing a fitting backdrop for the challenge ahead. One of the trekkers may well be familiar to supporters, with Matt from the Dundee United Club Shop among those taking part.
The challenge is supported by main sponsor Driver Hire, whose backing has covered essential kit hire, including jackets, sleeping bags and specialist equipment. This ensures all funds raised go directly towards the work of the Dundee United Community Trust.
Jamie Kirk, Chief Executive of the Dundee United Community Trust, said:
“This is an incredible challenge and a great example of what makes Dundee United special. The commitment shown by these four supporters is hugely appreciated.
“The funds raised will help us continue delivering programmes that make a real difference across our community, and we’re extremely grateful to everyone backing them, including Driver Hire for their valued support.”
Funds raised from the Arctic Trek will support the Community Trust’s ongoing work across education, health, inclusion and wellbeing, using the power of football to make a positive impact.
