ZAC SAPSFORD | GETTING BACK TO WINNING WAYS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

Dundee United forward Zac Sapsford spoke to the broadcast media to preview our William Hill Premiership clash with Falkirk.

The Terrors’ top scorer emphasised the squad’s excitement ahead of their first league match in ten days, discussed the boost in team spirit from an extended period on the training pitch together and discussed his FIFA World Cup ambitions.

ON GETTING BACK ON THE PITCH AT THE FALKIRK STADIUM

We’re all very excited. Obviously, a few games have been postponed, but we prepare for any game as normal, so we’re looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow.

We know it’ll be a tough game, as any game will be in this league, and especially knowing how important this game is for us. Getting back to winning ways is really important and playing the football we know we can play.

Chasing top six is always important, but for us it’s about going game by game - we go into every game to win, that’s the most important thing.

ON UTILISING THE ENFORCED BREAK IN A POSITIVE MANNER

Some people could see it as a negative not playing football, but we’ve taken it as a positive. We’ve been able to spend more time on the training pitch than usual if you’re playing games regularly.

Getting that camaraderie back in the team is really important, as well as getting more training sessions in and getting used to the way we want to play. 

We’ve had a tough patch in the league, but we know we can get back to winning ways, and that’s our aim come this Saturday. 

ON HIS FIRST SEASON IN SCOTLAND AND INTERNATIONAL AMBITIONS

I’ve loved it so far. There have been a lot of ups and downs in the season, but we’re just looking to find some consistency now coming to the end of the season before the split. 

I think any Australian player right now is looking at the World Cup, but personally it’s more important to play well for Dundee United and not think about anything else. We’ve got really important league games coming up, so that’s my focus at the moment, and if anything comes with that, then I'd be delighted
