Dundee United are thrilled to welcome the news that Will Ferry has been named the William Hill Premiership Player of the Month for April 2026.
Having brought his 76-game goal drought to an end with a scruffy strike against defending champions, Celtic, the wingback’s hit rate now ranks amongst the best frontmen in the country.
The visit of Livingston on Matchday 33 saw Ferry twist former Dee Cammy Kerr inside out before arrowing the opening goal into the bottom corner, whilst he also delivered the corner from which Krisztian Keresztes nodded home the equaliser during the second period.

Subsequently, the Irishman stole the show on Derby Day in the City of Discovery with one of the finest individual displays in the fixture’s 117-year history.
With 14 minutes on the clock, the deadlock was broken by our number 11 in unorthodox fashion. Zac Sapsford’s snapshot ricocheted off Dundee defender Luke Graham, then struck Ferry’s thigh before trundling off the post and over the line - just rewards for his box-crashing run from deep.
If the opener was fortuitous, his second was anything but. Receiving a crossfield pass from Vicko Sevelj on the left flank, the 26-year-old steadied himself and unleashed a venomous drive from range, which skipped past a statuesque Jon McCracken and kissed the post en route to the back of the net.

Less than two minutes later, Ferry turned provider for his opposite wingback, clipping up an inviting cross for Ryan Strain to bullet home at the back stick as Tannadice burst into euphoria once again. This marked his seventh goal contribution in just five matches and secured his inclusion in the coveted SPFL Team of the Week.
Since his arrival in the summer of 2024, no player has chalked up more appearances for the Terrors across the past two campaigns - with his tally standing at 80 across all competitions.
Furthermore, when compared with the top-flight’s most productive defenders, only Rangers skipper James Tavernier has bettered Ferry’s attacking output of 11 G/A this term, whilst he also ranks top of the charts for key passes.

The former Southampton starlet becomes the second United player to claim the prestigious award this term, following on from Ivan Dolcek’s success in August.
ONE OF THE BEST SIGNINGS THIS CLUB HAS MADE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS
Dundee United Manager, Jim Goodwin, heaped praise on his Vice-Captain’s scintillating showings, commenting: “Will has been such a pivotal member of the team across the past two years - I think he’s been one of the best signings this club has made for a number of years.
“Not only is he robust in defensive scenarios, but his impact in the final third is invaluable to the way we like to play. He’s like a Duracell Bunny tearing up and down the flank every week!”

He continued: “The only thing missing from his game has been the goals themselves, but it was only a matter of time before the floodgates opened.
“I’m absolutely delighted to see him receive the individual recognition his terrific performances merit and it speaks volumes for the professionalism he shows on a day-to-day basis.”
EVERYTHING HAS CLICKED INTO PLACE
Ferry himself added: “As much as football is a team sport, it’s always nice to receive an individual award. It’s not something I expected but I’m buzzing to get my hands on the trophy!
“I don’t think I’ve played much better than I usually do, I just feel like I have something tangible to show for my performances in terms of the goals and assists.
“Everything has clicked into place over the past few weeks, and that’s thanks to both my teammates and the staff here for their support. Without them, it’s impossible to succeed.”

He concluded: “Hopefully, I can continue to add to my tally throughout the last few games and as a team we continue to build some momentum heading into next season."
