Dundee United are delighted to announce the signing of Joshua Rawlins on a pre-contract agreement.

Upon the expiry of his deal with A-League side Melbourne Victory, the Australian will team up with the Terrors on a two-year contract, with a club-held option of an additional 12 months.

Rawlins’ footballing journey began on his doorstep when he joined Perth Glory’s Academy aged 11. He progressed through the youth ranks, before being handed his first-team debut in a pre-season battle with English giants, Manchester United, in 2019.

After going toe-to-toe with Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay, the teenage sensation became the youngest-ever player to start both an AFC Champions League and A-League match during the 2020/21 campaign, both before his 17th Birthday.

A further year as a mainstay in The Glory’s top-flight side followed, before Rawlins ventured to Europe to join FC Utrecht.

The defender made 24 appearances for Jong Utrecht competing in the second tier throughout his two-year stint in the Netherlands, whilst also captaining the Olyroos at the AFC U23 Asian Cup.

In the summer of 2024, Rawlins returned to his homeland with four-time Australian champions, Melbourne Victory, in search of regular senior action.

Capable of operating both as a flying wingback or auxillary centre-half, the starlet has turned out 46 times for Arthur Diles’ men across two terms at AAMI Park, collecting an A-League Grand Final runners-up medal in the process.

When compared with his peers in the division, he ranks as the most accurate crosser from the right flank and also sits second in the charts amongst defenders for dribbles completed.

Rawlins is set to become the third player to swap the Southern Hemisphere for the City of Discovery in the summer, with the captures of frontmen Jesse Randall and Lachlan Rose already rubber-stamped.
