Everyone at Dundee United was saddened to learn of the passing of former player and Hall of Fame inductee Jim Irvine.

Jim signed for United from Whitburn Juniors in August 1959. A prolific and versatile forward, Jim finished as the club’s top scorer during the 1959/60 campaign, helping United secure promotion to the First Division. Across the following four seasons, he remained a key presence in the attack, operating across all forward positions while continuing to score regularly in the black and white.

His performances at Tannadice earned widespread recognition, and, in May 1964, he departed the club to join Middlesbrough F.C.

Jim’s contribution to Dundee United was later recognised through his induction into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2012, cementing his place in United history.

Everyone at Dundee United would like to extend their condolences to Jim’s family and friends at this sad time.
