Merghem heads to Tannadice

Dundee United are delighted to announce the signing of Jordan Amissah following his departure from Burton Albion. The goalkeeper has agreed a two-year deal, subject to SFA approval and international clearance, running through to the summer of 2028.
Amissah arrives at the Calforth Construction Arena for his second spell in Scotland, following a year south of the border with the Brewers.
Standing at 6ft 6, the 24-year-old joins the Terrors early into pre-season and will add competition to a goalkeeping department featuring Jack Walton and Ruairidh Adams.
Born in Germany and of Ghanaian descent, Amissah honed his craft with the likes of Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund, winning the under-17 Bundesliga title with the latter.
After moving to Sheffield United as an 18-year-old, Jordan penned his first professional contract in May 2021. The stopper headed out to the National League North for successive loans with Guiseley and Spennymoor Town before making his first-team debut in August 2022, coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute against Luton Town.
Amissah was called up by Ghana for the Under-23 African Cup of Nations in the summer of 2023 following his Blades debut and a first spell with Burton on loan.
After six years in Sheffield, Amissah joined then Scottish Premiership side Ross County in December 2024, where the Staggies would go on to lose just four of his first twelve matches in goal.
Following a year at the Pirelli Stadium, Amissah now arrives at Dundee United ready for a fresh chapter in his career.
A COMMANDING PRESENCE IN GOAL
Following our latest Terror putting pen-to-paper on a deal at the Calforth Construction Arena, Dundee United Manager Jim Goodwin spoke of his delight, saying: “Jordan is a player we’ve been aware of for some time, and we’re delighted to bring him to Dundee United.
“He’s still a young goalkeeper but has had experience in League One and, importantly, the Scottish Premiership with Ross County. He’s calm and composed, not only as a player but as a person, and that’s important for me.
“I’m really excited to see him work with Jack and Ruairidh and watch them push each other every day in training.”
A NEW CHAPTER
Amissah added: “I’m absolutely delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going as a Dundee United player.
“The conversations I’ve had with the Gaffer and the coaching staff have been really exciting, and I wanted to get started as soon as I could.
“My time at Ross County was probably where I played my best football to date, so a move back north of the border really appealed to me, especially with United being such a big club.
“I can’t wait to get going in pre-season and see all the fans at Tannadice in a few weeks’ time, and hopefully this season will be full of success.”
