Stirton heads out on-loan

Dundee United can today announce that Owen Stirton has joined William Hill Championship side Ayr United on a season-long loan deal.

The young forward has played 25 times for his boyhood club and heads out for the 2026/27 season looking to help Ayr kick-on from a 7th placed finish last campaign.

Manager Jim Goodwin gave his thoughts on Stirton's temporary switch to Ayrshire.

"We feel this is a good opportunity for Owen to continue his development at a good club and get the regular game time needed at this stage," Goodwin said.

"Like Sam it's so important that the younger lads are playing week in, week out and Ayr are a really good club who will look after him.

"I'm excited to see how Owen gets on and wish him and Ayr all the best for the coming season."
