ADAMS AND BISLAND GO ON SHORT-TERM LOANS

13th January 2023

Two more of our Academy graduates will head out on short-term loans, with Layton Bisland and Ruairidh Adams joining Peterhead and Gala Fairydean Rovers respectively.

Layton Bisland

Layton Bisland joins League One outfit Peterhead until June.

The right-sided defender has made the step up from U18s football to turning out regularly for Dundee United B this season, most recently playing 90 minutes in Tuesday's cinch Reserve League Cup fixture at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

He also boasts loan spells with Brechin City, where he made 11 appearances last season, and Cowdenbeath - notching three goals in the first half of the campaign with the Blue Brazil.

Peterhead sit at the foot of the table in a two-way battle with Clyde to avoid the drop, and have replaced former United midfielder, and until his dismissal longest-serving manager in the SPFL pyramid, Jim McInally with David Robertson.

Ruairidh Adams

Ruairidh Adams will head out to Lowland League side Gala Fairydean Rovers until the end of the season.

The shot-stopper joined the club as a 16-year-old from Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale, having already made his senior debut in a Scottish Cup clash with Banks O' Dee.

Ruairidh frequently trains with the first-team and was part of the traveling group for the second-leg of our UEFA Conference League Third-Qualifying Round clash with AZ Alkmaar

He continued to battle with Jamie McCabe for the Young Terrors' number one jersey last year, and now spends most of his time with Dundee United B.

Borders-based Gala Fairydean Rovers will celebrate just their tenth anniversary as a club this year after Gala Fairydean and Gala Rovers merged in 2013.

"Development Pathways Furthered"

Head of Player Pathways and Loans, Brian Grant gave his thoughts on Ruiaridh and Layton's loan moves, saying "Layton and Ruairidh have been valuable members of the B-team squad this season, however, we feel their development pathways will be furthered by short-term spells at differing levels of the pyramid,

He added, "Regular action at a senior level will no doubt aid their efforts to break into the competitive first-team environment at United on their return in the summer.

"We wish both of the boys the best of luck out on loan."
