Dundee United forward Zac Sapsford spoke to the broadcast media to preview our William Hill Premiership clash with Dundee on Matchday 21.

The Australian reflected on a strong performance against Livingston in midweek, looked ahead to a mouth-watering battle with our city rivals and assessed his start to life in tangerine.

ON A TERRIFIC TUESDAY IN WEST LOTHIAN AND STRINGING RESULTS TOGETHER

It was a really dominant win and probably our best performance of the season, even though it was against the side at the bottom of the table. We knew how hard it was going there and to get the three points was really important for us coming into this week's game.

We've always got confidence in this group and we’ve put together a nice little unbeaten run - we're looking to continue that and get a win over Dundee.

ON THE SQUAD’S EXCITEMENT AHEAD OF THE DUNDEE DERBY

We're all excited - I always love playing in derby games. The fans will be up for it, so everyone's buzzing. It speaks for itself, to be honest. You need to win - It's as simple as that. Anything else is looked upon as not good enough.

I want to score but first and foremost, I just want to win the game because I know how important it is to the club and the fans. My first thought is winning and then if a goal comes with that, that's just a bonus.

Any derby is really fierce and competitive, and no matter how any team is  playing, it's always going to be a tight game. Hopefully, we can get on top of them early.

I've seen what they (the supporters) can provide for us in big fixtures that we've had before - I'm sure they'll be loud and keep us going throughout the whole game.

ON HIS FIRST SIX MONTHS IN THE CITY OF DISCOVERY

I'm really happy with the way I've been playing and the fact that I am playing. It's important to keep the minutes ticking over and I'm delighted with my transition into Dundee United so far.

I just want to keep playing as much as possible and focus on winning as many games as I can with this team to push for those European spots come the end of the season.
