Yoro heads to Tannadice

Dundee United is delighted to announce the signing of Abdoulaye Yoro from Istanbul Basaksehir F.K on a season long loan.

The highly rated midfielder heads to the Calforth Construction Arena at Tannadice Park as Jim Goodwin’s 12th summer signing, subject to SFA and international clearance.

Yoro was in the stands for our trip to Tynecastle and linked up with the rest of the squad this morning as our attention turns to the visit of Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup.

The Ivory Coast-born midfielder started his senior career with the Turkish Super Lig side but enjoyed an impressive first full season on-loan with Dinamo Tbilisi last campaign.

Notching seven goals in 30 appearances whilst in the Georgian capital, Yoro now makes the move to Tannadice after the club beat off competition from fellow Premiership sides and sides from mainland Europe.

A dynamic player capable of playing in a range of midfield roles, Abdoulaye provides more strength and depth to Jim Goodwin’s options in the middle of the park.

A REAL IMPACT PLAYER

On securing the services of our new number 26, Jim Goodwin spoke of his delight at attaining Yoro’s signature.

“I’m delighted to be able to welcome Abdoulaye to the club. He’s an exciting young player with a lot of potential and a deal we’ve worked hard to pull off,” Goodwin said.

“He had a really successful season in Georgia last year, gaining valuable experience of regular senior football and showing his ability in the final third on a regular basis.

“He’s technically very good, energetic and has a real hunger to improve. We believe Dundee United is a great environment for him to continue his development and test himself in the Scottish Premiership.

“He gives us another option in midfield and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
