FUENTES AND VENETIS MAY FACE GERS

28th September 2000

United could have two more foreign players in their line-up for Sunday's Sky TV visit to Rangers. Argentinian Gustavo Fuentes, one of a trio of players signed last week from Honduran champions Motagua, has now been cleared to play and Manager Alex Smith has admitted he is likely to be in his squad. "He has looked strong and sharp in training and could be a useful player for us, although the real test will come in a match," said Alex.

Also in line for involvement is Greek Tassos Venetis after returning to form for the Under-21s in the last couple of games. "When I came here I had a chat with Tassos and told him I was taking him out of the First Team to let him build his confidence again," explained Smith. "I always knew that once he did that he would feature again because there is no questioning his ability. He will be in the group for Sunday, though I have not decided yet if he will start."
