CARRIGAN DECISION DEFERRED

1st August 2001

Alex Smith confirmed yesterday that current trialist Brian Carrigan is closing in on the full fitness which could earn him a contract with the Tangerines but the United manager will not be making a final decision on the former Clyde and Stockport County striker until then.

It had originally been intended to decide once the former Clyde man had completed the full build-up to the new campaign but having missed some vital pre-season training that judgement has been deferred.

Twenty-one year old Carrigan joined Stockport in July 2000 following his starring role in Clyde's successful promotion push into last season's First Division when he scored 18 goals in 31 games.
