The visitors ran out 3-1 winners at Foundation Park but it took a late third to seal the points with United battling throughout.

The team talk

Graeme Hart made three changes to the side that lost to Partick Thistle the week before; Georgie Robb, Abbie Cusack and Keira Chuter all coming in for Katie Frew, Leah Sidey and Jo Fraser.

Fiona McNicoll was in fine form early on when she denied the visitors twice in quick succession.

Hayley Lauder was next to try her luck for City in the twelfth minute when she fired over shortly before another effort clipped the outside of the post.

The deadlock was broken on the quarter hour mark; Lauren Davidson latching onto a loose ball to slot home underneath McNicoll.

Rachel Todd sent in a dangerous cross at the other end that caused problems but nobody could get a shot away and it resulted in a goal kick.

Lauder doubled City’s lead in the 23rd minute as a shot was parried and it fell to her to place into an empty net.

Despite the score, United battled hard and found themselves halving the deficit on the stroke of half time.

A ball into the box found Abbie Cusack, her shot was parried and after some pinball inside the six yard box Georgie Robb squared it for Jade Wilson to tap home.

INTO THE BREAK

At the start of the second half City could have restored the two goal lead but a low save from McNicoll denied Leanne Ross’ side.

City were being restricted to long range efforts with McNicoll either gathering them or they were flying off target as United looked for a breakthrough at the other end.

Despite the defence looking strong going into the final five minutes, City managed to breach it and seal all three points through Lauder’s second of the afternoon.

The result was a massive improvement on the score against City earlier this season and there are plenty of positives to help the side going into the final two games before the winter break.
