DUNDEE UNITED LAUNCH NEW WEBSITE

8th April 2004

Dundee United today unveiled the Club's new official website, designed by Scottish based Avian Communications. The new website has been under active development since the beginning of the year and marks another step in the Club's ongoing improved communications programme.

Dundee United Director Derek Robertson said, "The Club is committed to improving communications with our supporters and clearly, in this day and age, electronic communication is hugely important. As part of the ongoing consultation exercise with supporters' groups and other stakeholders, we have taken note of comments and suggestions with regard to this and decided that improvements must be made in this area.

The new website, www.dundeeunitedfc.co.uk , will include many of the features requested by fans and others will be added later in a phased introduction. One of the significant benefits of the new site is that we will be able to update and improve the content ourselves. To this end, a "users' group", which includes members of the Federation of Dundee United Supporters' Clubs and ArabTRUST, has been formed. This will assist in the ongoing development of the site and with a continued process of improvement."

The new site has a more modern, sharper image with drop down menus and improved navigation skills and search facilities. New features include an ArabForum question and answer section, competitions, downloads, treatment room details, a comprehensive Dundee United A-Z and lottery details. An online shop will be added in a later phase. A "What the Papers Say" provides quick and comprehensive access to all football and sports stories in the Scottish media. The site also allows for extensive advertising opportunities for local and national businesses.

George Gall, Managing Director of Avian Communications said, "As a fan of long standing it has been a real pleasure to work with the Club on this development. Being locally based has meant that a close working relationship has developed and we hope this will continue well into the future. Features such as the eNewsletter and ArabForum will form important elements in the Club's communications strategy and will allow fans to raise important issues directly with the Club."

Derek Robertson added, "The new site is a significant improvement on the old one and we are indebted to Avian for their assistance in getting us to this stage. In common with all new developments, there will undoubtedly be some teething problems and we would ask for a little patience in getting things absolutely right. We would ask users to let us know immediately they spot a problem, or error, or indeed if they have any suggestions to improve particular areas. I can be contacted at communications@dundeeunitedfc.co.uk."
