WEEKLY ENEWSLETTER SPAM PROBLEM

24th January 2006

We have recently been made aware that some weekly enewsletter subscribers are not receiving the newsletter. On investigation, we have found that the reason for this is that it has been identified by their operating system as "spam". This particularly affects those with blueyonder (Telewest) addresses.

In total almost 500 enews subscribers are Telewest customers. It would appear that the Telewest system has suddenly decided that the bulk receipt of our enewsletter to this number of their customers at the same time is an attempt at 'spamming' and has rejected the newsletter at server level. We have explained to Telewest that this is not spam and are attempting to have the situation resolved

There could also be a problem if you have recently installed anti spam software, some versions of which might also reject the enewsletter as spam.

If this is the case, you can try altering the settings on your pc. Systems and settings vary but the following appears to work on some.

Subscribers should go into "options" on their webmail site, click on "antispam and antivirus preferences" and then on "manage my block and allow lists", enter "dundeeunitedfc.co.uk" as a domain name in the "allow" list. This should permit receipt of the enewsletter unless it has been blocked at server level, although some blueyonder subscribers advise us that this works on their system.
