MIKKELSEN RETURNS TO TANNADICE

19th January 2018

Dundee United today announced the loan signing of striker Thomas Mikkelsen until the end of the 2017/18 season.

The big Dane will wear the number 9 shirt for the Terrors. He enjoyed a loan period at United in the second half of the 2016/17 season when he scored eight goals in 26 appearances.

Thomas, who celebrates his 28th birthday today, joins United from parent club Ross County where he has played 13 times, scoring four goals.

Manager Csaba Laszlo said, "We need a striker who shows presence, has speed and power and is willing to work. There were other options but when you look at Thomas against those other options, this deal is the best for Dundee United.

"He very quickly answered the question as to whether he would like to come back to United. He knows the Club, he likes the Club and he will be ready to play straight away. Although this is a loan deal, after the season we can then see where it goes."

Thomas becomes United's sixth signing of the January transfer window after Craig Slater, Brandon Mason and Emil Lyng joined the Club alongside a contract extension for Paul Quinn and Sam Stanton's permanent deal announced earlier today.
