Dundee United has conducted an internal investigation into the incident during Saturday’s home match that saw a glass bottle thrown from the Raith Rovers support in the West Stand onto the playing surface in the aftermath of our first goal.

We are currently working with Police Scotland to provide as much assistance as possible to allow them to proceed with further action they deem appropriate.

Such behaviour is unacceptable and deplorable, and Dundee United acknowledge Raith Rovers’ prompt actions in dealing with a supporter they have identified as being the individual who threw the bottle onto the pitch.

Scottish football is fortunate that so much passion is involved in it, but we all have a duty and an obligation to always behave responsibly, and while everyone wants to see and ignite the passion within supporters, we as a club will always endeavour to behave professionally and conscientiously with our actions and communications with our fan base.

Although very serious and disappointing, the above should not be allowed to overshadow the fantastic spectacle that saw over 10,000 home fans and most Raith Rovers supporters properly conduct themselves and play a part in making Saturday’s game the positive advertisement for Scottish football that it was. We would like to thank all those fans from both clubs for creating a fantastic atmosphere within Tannadice Park.
