Football Fans in Training

The life changing programme Football Fans in Training is back!!!

Classes start on Tuesday, 22 September for women and Wednesday, 23 September for men, both from 6.30pm to 8pm, in the WestEnd Suite.

For more information and to pre-register, please contact connor.moyes@dundeeunitedct.co.uk

The SPFL Trust course, delivered by the Club's Community Trust, runs for 13 weeks and differs to the normal “weight loss” programmes out there, offering advice and practical ways to make changes to your lifestyle, all whilst going behind the scenes here at Dundee United. From good ideas about what and how much to eat, tips on changing your lifestyle, or introducing simple opportunities to exercise, everyone can be a winner at Football Fans In Training (FFIT).

The main aims of the programme are to:

·        Feel better about yourself

·        Become more active

·        Lose weight

·        Develop a healthier lifestyle

·        Get fitter

If you are a man or woman aged between 35-65 with a waist size of 38 inches or more, FFIT may be just the ticket to help you kick off a healthier lifestyle.

Every 90-minute session contains a different topic, which includes managing your alcohol consumption, understanding food labels and balancing your diet. There is also a physical component to each session. This can be a gentle walk, a circuit session with our trained coaching staff or a game of football.

FFIT is open to those who enjoy football or those who just want make changes to their health. You do not need to be a supporter of Dundee United to take part in the course.

Below are the testimonies of two 2019 FFIT graduates:-

"I signed up to  FFIT to lose some weight, learn a bit more about nutrition and be a wee bit fitter for my wee boy. FFIT allowed me to get some activity on a Monday night, banter and train at the hallowed ground! I would recommend to anyone not sure on how to kick start fitness or weight loss – I originally came along not knowing anyone but the barriers soon came down with everyone. Make the jump!!!. It teaches some things I thought I knew but actually didn’t and the programme is a good way to challenge yourself through the week until each Monday night. It has had a major impact on such things as keeping a food diary, calorie tracking and step counts using Samsung Health religiously! I have lost 9.1kg up to last night (25/11). It has become a habit now and I walk four miles in my hours lunch every day any weather where previously I would eat at my desk. It has generally improved my quality of life fitnesswise too. I will continue all the things I have learned and put into place after the course ends as it is now a part of my daily routine."

"I started on the final FFIT programme of 2019 as I wanted to lose weight. I decided to join the programme as I felt I could learn more about being healthy, as well as exercising with others. The reason I keep attending is that there are other like-minded people with the same goals who encourage and motivate you throughout, in particular, the Dundee United staff who run the programme. I would recommend this programme as losing weight isn't easy but, with the right motivation and support that you get from this programme, you can achieve your goal."

Needless to say, the classes run in accordance with government guidelines re COVID-19.
