HASNEY DEPARTS TANNADICE

30th August 2002

One the eve of the first derby of the 2002-2003 season, Manager Alex Smith stressed the significance of the occasion: "Tomorrow's match is extremely important. It is crucial that we win, to give our supporters the feel-good factor of walking into work with a big smile on Monday morning, and to get the first win of the season. We have been close to winning a couple of times this season and is time we started picking up full points. Over the last few matches we have sometimes played extremely well, sometimes were lacking, and we need to seek a level of consistency to start climbing up the league table. We are all looking forward to the match which, no doubt, will make for a very entertaining clash. It will be the first derby at Dundee United for Allan Smart, Kevin McGowne, Arnar Gunnlaugsson and Warren Cummings."

A day ahead of the closure of the transfer windows, the Club today confirmed the release of Hasney Aljofree. The Mancunian defender scored 7 goals during his time at the Club and made 62 starts while figuring four times as a sub. Alex Smith stated: "We would like to thank Hasney for this excellent service to the Club and wish him every success for his future career."
