DUFF'S FIRST U-21 CAP

5th September 2002

Stuart Duff got his first Under-21 cap in a friendly versus Israel played at New Douglas Park in Hamilton yesterday evening, whilst Jamie McCunnie earned his fourth honour at this level. Both Stuart, playing on the right wing back and McCunnie, at centre back, started the match under new German coach Rainer Bonhof. McCunnie was substituted at half time by Gary Caldwell.

Manager Alex Smith commented this morning at Tannadice: "It is important for the Club that our players are represented at this level. It is good for players' self-esteem and also for the Club's reputation as producers of highly qualified youngsters. The Club will continue to work hard to source and develop such players and I am sure that several of your young talents such as Winters, Wilson, O'Donnell, Jarvie and Ogunmade, some of whom have already played at various age levels for Scotland, will follow in Jamie's and Stuart's footsteps."
