UNDER-21s TRAVEL TO PERTH

2nd September 2002

This evening, United's Under-21s are set to build on their fine showing of last Monday evening at Tannadice when they held an experienced Rangers side to a 2-2 draw. With Coach Maurice Malpas involved in international U-21s preparations, Youth Coach Paul Hegarty is in charge of the young Tangerines who are travelling to McDiarmid Park. Earlier in the afternoon, Hegarty stated: "Our aim is to go forward from the first match of our season versus Rangers where we played ever so well but dropped two points nonetheless. We have to make sure that we not only put in another excellent performance but also reap the reward for our efforts. Last week we fielded a very young team supported by two senior players and we shall play a similar combination with a little bit more maturity in Derek Lilley, David McCracken, Stephen Carson, Jim Paterson."
