DUNDEE UNITED APPOINT NEW MANAGER

Dundee United today announced that Falkirk Manager Ian McCall (38) has been appointed their new Manager.

He will be joined in the new management team by Gordon Chisholm (Assistant Manager) and Tony Docherty (first team coach). They were both with him at Falkirk.

Eddie Thompson, Chairman of Dundee United said: "It is with deep regret that today we terminated the contract of our Manager Paul Hegarty and his coaching staff, Maurice Malpas and John Holt.

"However, results are paramount at any football club and unfortunately we find ourselves bottom of the Bank of Scotland premierleague having gained only 4 points from the past 10 league matches. This is not acceptable to the Board or our supporters.

"However, as sad a day this is for me personally, I am delighted that we have secured the services of the best young manager in the country in the shape of Ian McCall. Together with his new management team, I firmly believe that we now have in place a coaching staff that will take this Club forward.
