MARK WILSON SET TO SIGN THREE-YEAR DEAL

21st February 2003

Dundee United's talented defender/midfielder Mark Wilson is set to sign a new three-year deal with the Club. However, at the same time as he was set to sign, Manager Ian McCall announced that the youngster is to have a minor operation to tidy up some cartilage in his knee. He was seeing a specialist today and the operation will take place some time next week. In all probability, he will not be available for the next three to four weeks while recovering from the operation. Ian McCall said: "Players like Mark are the future of the Club and I am delighted that we have nearly sealed the deal to keep him right until the end of season 2006. We would have signed him today, but we had the chance to take him to the specialist and get organised for the operation next week. I stress again, it is a minor operation and we will only lose him for three to four weeks."
