UNDER-21S TAKE FULL POINTS AGAINST DUNFERMLINE

12th March 2003

United travelled to meet Dunfermline in this Under-21 match at New Bayview. The line-up included Danny Griffin for his first competitive match since his return, and Charlie Miller, who is now free from suspension. These two in particular will be glad to have the chance to get some much needed match practice.

The Tannadice side took an early lead when Stephen McGowan continued his impressive scoring record this season with a low drive beyond the Pars keeper. The home side did not manage a shot on target in the first half and United extend their lead through a Stephen O'Donnell penalty after the he himself had been brought down with half an hour played.

The pattern of the first half was repeated in the second, with Dunfermline lacking any penetration and still failing to find the target. The visitors extended their lead to three goals with a header from Ryan Waddell (pictured) 10 minutes into the second period.

This was an easy win for United and hoists the Under 21 side four places up the League to sixth.
