ROBSON SIGNS FOR UNITED

16th May 2003

Ian McCall has won the battle to sign Barry Robson, Inverness Caledonian Thistle's talented left-sided midfielder. United had been tracking the player for several weeks and had put in a bid for the player to the Inverness Club.

However, late interest from Aberdeen caused speculation that the player might not opt for Tannadice. But talks between the player, his agent and Ian McCall soon convinced former Ranger's youth player Robson to sign a three-year deal with United.

Ian McCall said, "I am delighted to sign Barry Robson who I regard as an extremely talented player. Obviously I had the chance to watch Barry on several occasions when I was Falkirk manager. I was always impressed at how adaptable a player he was on the left flank.

"It is no secret that there are several players that are interesting me and hopefully over the next few weeks there will be other new names coming to Tannadice."

Barry Robson said, "I am looking forward to the new season with United. There is no doubt that Ian McCall and Eddie Thompson have ambitious plans for the Club and that was the main attraction of me coming here. They have a great set up at Tannadice and I feel that there are really exciting times ahead."
